La Retraite – Beautiful home with four bedrooms sleeping 8 (one twin room is for young children) is 1.5 miles from the medieval town of Sarlat. The house is perfectly located in the golden triangle formed between Sarlat, Beynac and Montfort with easy access to the many surrounding tourist attractions nearby.

The house also has a Type 2 Tesla Destination Charger – 3 phase (400v x 32A) – 12.8kw

Detached, restored and extended with high quality fittings, decor and furniture making this house rather special, it has all the creature comforts you could possibly need.

Private garden with heated swimming pool in the summer, wooden decking and veranda for your sole use. We have installed an electrically operated retractable floating safety cover which will enclose the pool and ensure it can be made off limits to children, in the event someone falls into the pool the floating cover will support their weight.

On the Ground floor there is a large master bedroom which has an en-suite shower area with doors out to the veranda. Lovely twin bedded room with dedicated shower room across the hall. Separate WC in hallway.

Large well equipped dining kitchen with dishwasher, electric oven, gas hob and large fridge freezer and doors to the terrace.
Lovely lounge also with doors to the terrace, UK satellite television and Bluray/DVD player with surround sound. Please note we do not have French television channels (Il n’y a pas des chaines televisuelles Francaise). Quality leather sofas to seat six in comfort, great room in which to relax and unwind.

On the first floor there is a superb bedroom with a vaulted beamed ceiling in the tower, own bathroom with WC across the landing. Additional twin bedroom room available on this floor which is only suitable for children.

Less than a mile to the nearest supermarket and it is possible to walk or cycle into the medieval centre of Sarlat, where the choice of restaurants and bars abound (but you do need to be fit, as it’s hilly).
Quiet neighbourhood set along a wooded lane leading out of Sarlat on the western side of the town so no need to crawl through Sarlat in busy peak period traffic when heading to the majority of tourist destinations.

Lockable storage for bikes etc available in the garage and off road parking for several cars.

Part covered dining terrace with furniture and outdoor stone BBQ.

To the rear of the house is a wood which provides privacy and the garden and pool at the front of the house are screened from the quiet road, the garden is mainly laid to lawn plus the decking area.
The swimming pool is 8x4m and is heated by a heat pump in peak season from May to September. The heat pump can raise the temperature of the pool between 5 – 7 degrees centigrade and is set to heat the pool to a maximum of 29 degrees centigrade.

Washing machine and dryer provided in the basement garage.
Just over one hours drive (70km) from Bergerac airport with flights from Edinburgh, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham, East Midlands, Bristol, Exeter, Southampton and London Stansted and just under one hours drive (48km) from Brive airport with flights from London Stansted and London City. Flights from several UK airports are also provided to Limoges which is about 95 minutes drive away.

Fell in love with France and in particular the Dordogne many years ago and have been coming down here on Holiday most years ever since. Changing circumstances brought with them the opportunity to achieve my dream of owning a house in the Dordogne, and after considerable searching and viewing properties I found the perfect one! I wanted to be close to a town yet set in a rural location and the heated swimming pool was a must. The house has all I wanted and whilst being a traditional building also has a modern contemporary feeling inside.

Felt like home when I saw the house and we loved the large rooms and the ensuite facilities.

The kitchen is well equipped and the house is flooded with light from the large veranda windows on the ground floor and the dual aspect of the windows in the tower bedroom. The pool was a must have and the large decked area is perfect for relaxing and getting a good tan. Above all it’s private and the perfect place to relax.

It also benefits from a Type 2 EV charging point, which is somewhat of a rarity in the Dordogne.
