The tyres and brake pads still pollute the air

The brake pads on an electric car typically last twice as long (if not longer) as a petrol/diesel car as the energy normally transferred from the wheel to the brake discs/pads is instead absorbed by the regenerative braking system of the car (effectively the motor generates electricity as soon as you from the motion of the car as it slows down, similar to how a wind turbine works) [source] Particles from the tyres should be roughly the same as a comparable ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) vehicle when the cars are driven similar, however, it’s a fair assumption that because of the extra weight from an electric car compared to a similar-sized ICE there might be an increase in tyre wear and therefore tyre particles.
