Step through the front door into a large entrance porch, with an old school bench and a wall-mounted Ordnance Survey map, great for finding your bearings and plotting walking routes. The cottage is decorated in subtle grey colours, along with a selection of artwork and tasteful soft furnishings. A spacious living room with two comfy sofas invites you to curl up around the cosy multi-fuel burner, while the shaker style kitchen is a dream to cook in with all modern appliances and kitchen accessories.
Upstairs are two beautifully furnished bedrooms enjoying views across the Dales to Addleborough hill. There is also a family bathroom. Outside is a paved patio with garden furniture and a parking area.
The village has a well-stocked shop and a delicatessen where you can order a picnic to take with you on your travels. The three pubs in the village all provide local ales and homely fayre. There are plentiful walks along the banks of the nearby River Ure and the Askrigg Waterfalls Walk, which takes in both Whitfield Force and Mill Gill Force. For the more adventurous, try a climb up the hill of Addleborough across the dale. The Yorkshire Dales offer spectacular scenery and an abundance of walks of all ability levels to explore.
The historic town of Richmond, famed for its castle, Georgian theatre, riverside walks and abundance of independent shops and tea rooms, is around a 30-minute drive. The Forbidden Corner in Middleham, a quirky venue with its labyrinth of caves, folly and underground caverns is 13 miles away, and is hugely popular with families. Picturesque Aysgarth Falls and Castle Bolton are nearby and the market towns of Leyburn and Hawes are a short drive away. Fishing can be found nearby. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant 25 yards.
